Summer School

One of our Summer projects was at Drew Elementary on St. Claude in New Orleans.  Surgi's installed a large kitchen hood (8' x 12') and 60' of exhaust duct up the side of the building.  The project was a challenging success and was completed in time for the new school year.  If you have a major project like this or a smaller hood, call Surgi's today at 504-469-4232.

Duct Fires Due To Lack Of Proper Maintenance

Happens every year...flash fire of lint in a duct when the heat is turned on for the first time.  You see, New Orleans is not a very cold place.  Sometimes heaters in commercial businesses are not turned on for several years. 

Electric heat strips collect dust whenever the fan is running for heat or cool.  So, we wind up with a perfect storm; the strips are coated with dust and the business owner needs heat.  What results is comparable to a chimney fire.  It typically doesn't damage the building but it is disconcerting to the customers to see black smoke billowing from ductwork.  Plus, the fire department is not amused.
